| CRUMP'S STORE |
| Crump's Store, one of the few remaining "old country stores", was built in 1925 at the intersection of what is now Beach and Winterpock Roads in Chesterfield County. Julian Crump (born 1872) built it for his son, Stanley Crump, who was then 19 years old. Julian felt it was time for Stanley to grow up and settle down and to stop running up and down the dirt road in his Motel T Ford! Stanley then operated the store for 52 years until his health declined. Its first customers came by horse and buggy or in the newly invented automobile. Stanley and his wife lived in the back of the store and their two sons were actually born there. The store is currently owned and operated by Stanley Crump's grand-daughter, Suzanne and her husband Don Rudd. They took it over in 1994. As a child, Suzanne lived in the back of the store with her parents until they moved when she was three. Don and Suzanne's son, Mason, worked at the store as a teenager, representing the fifth generation of the family. This one-room store has been a country store, local meeting place, and community focal point since 1925. It was in existence before paved roads, telephones, and electricity were available in the area. This store, which has been in continuous operation for 84 years, still has its original old wooden floors. Today, Crump's Store is known far and wide for its good food. In 2007, it won a contest for the best chili dog in Chesterfield County! |

Recently, we were blessed to have Nichole Hope Crandell visit with us on Feb 2 -Feb 4. We did an interview with her on WHAP 1340am - The Gospel Showcase with Chip and Nikki. We played several of her songs to introduce others to her and her music ministry. Afterwards, we spent a little time at Hardee's and Nichole sang with Heart of Country. The Light of Christ Church and Pastor Ben Yates invited Nichole to do a concert at their church on Wednesday night! We had a great time and many were blessed by her testimony and songs. The next day, Nichole left for NC where she led a "True Love Waits" conference and concert. She has her share of weather to content with but is now on her way back to Colorado, so pray for her as she travels. Visit her on facebook and at www.myspace.com/nicholehopecrandell We pray for you, Nichole and your ministries. Come back and see us anytime! You can visit Corey at www.coreybrooksband.com We will announce this and other exciting events here on our website, on facebook and always listen to The Gospel Showcase with Chip and Nikki for updates! Look for the new single to come to radio... Dancing With the Angels will be the new single from the Lead Me Lord CD. It should be out to radio very soon. This song is very special to Chip and I. It is about his Grandmother (Nell Vincent) who passed in Feb 07. She was quite a woman...a Godly woman. She would get around in her wheelchair and talk to strangers about Jesus. She wore very fancy, special hats that only Grandma's could wear. She would come hear us sing and always shout out just what she wanted to hear. Some of those songs are mentioned in the lyrics. Grandma always wondered why the Lord was keeping her here on earth so long. I think maybe the He knew how much we'd miss her. She passed in the early afternoon and that night, God woke me and gave me the words to Dancing With the Angels. Chip and I managed to pull it together enough to sing it at her funeral. Just barely. It was one of the hardest things either of us ever had to do. Chip says the tears are still on his guitar. There are still times that the memories will hit me and I struggle to make it through the words. I can see her in Heaven now and can imagine how happy she is. And so, I hope this song blesses the hearts of many and gives comfort to those that have lost someone special. It has blessed us and we can share Grandma with others. Chip and I are excited about the scheduling going on, traveling and meeting new friends. Please pray for our ministry and the RV for safe traveling mercies. We continue to pray that others will see our light for Jesus and come to know Him as their personal Lord and Savior. Amen! "Spread God's Word One Song At A Time" May God Bless You ALL! |
